This project was quick, easy and inexpensive. Framing the old mirror made a huge difference. Here are the products and steps that I used to achieve this look.
Supplies and Instructions:
- Decorative wood boards. I found prefinished decorative boards at Menards. They were only $5.00 a board. They measure 8 feet long by 4 inches wide and ¾ inch deep. They had 4-5 different finishes. The material is particle board and is sturdy and easy to cut. Get the right number of boards so that you can have 4 separate pieces for your mirror.
- I used a hand miter saw and box kit to cut 90-degree angles at the end of each piece of wood so that they would easily fit together. See the pictures.
- I purchased very inexpensive hardware to use at each corner for a rustic decorative touch. The hardware was only $1.50 for a pack of 4.
- I laid the wood pieces out and connected them with a little wood glue and let it dry.
- Once dry, I used a power drill and screwed the decorative hardware onto each corner. I used small screws so as not to go through the other side of the frame.
- I then placed the frame over the mirror and used a little wood glue to secure it. You will want to make sure your length and width measurements are accurate and at least ½ inch longer than the mirror itself so that the mirror edges are covered.
I love how it turned out and will probably do something similar when I get around to updating my master bath!
I hope you find some inspiration. Check out my other bathroom projects! Happy renovating.
