Instructions

This is a relatively easy tutorial. When I knew that I wanted to make Lego head costumes for Halloween, the tutorials I found were very complex.  I ended up making these Lego costumes and loved them! We received many compliments. Give it a try! Construction the lego heads took a couple of hours but then you have to let the spray paint dry and sit for a few days.

  • First, decide how tall you want the head to be based on the size of your own head. Cut the poster board and tape it together so that you have a piece of board that will wrap around the foam wreath frames.
  • I looked around on the internet and found some Lego faces that I liked. I printed them and used. That as a pattern to trace and cut out the eyes and mouth. Do any cutting of the actual poster board BEFORE you glue it to the foam rings.
  • I used hot glue to glue the poster board to the foam rings (one at the top and one at the bottom). Attach the board halfway up the side of the foam ring so that you get the curve at the top and bottom of the head.
  • For the top of the head, I used a coffee can, but you can use the poster board as well and just cut a smaller cylinder out and a piece for the top.
  • I traced and cut out LEGO letters on craft foam and glued them to the top of the head.
  • I used some caulk to fill in any cracks where the poster board was attached to the foam rings for the first one. I was able to glue the board much closer for the 2nd one, so I did not need the caulk.
  • I then took the head outside and covered it with 2 coats of the yellow spray paint and let it dry.
  • I cut some light black fabric that I could see through out for the eyes and taped the fabric to the inside of the head. I then glued small white circles that I cut from printer paper to the outside of the eyes.
  • I cut out eyebrows on black construction paper and glued them on where I wanted them, and I used red marker to draw and color the lips.
  • I just cut out a large triangle from poster board for the body and attached a string so I could hang it from my neck. I also printed and taped the Lego logo to the front. Super easy!

Good luck with your Lego costume project and check out some of my other costume ideas!
